Skra Nōm Kez (/skra/ /noːm/ [brown] [stereotype]) is a subtropical Town located in the I̽lökri̽ Moot of the Viceroyalty of Rosid.

The name Skra Nōm Kez is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Skra Nōm Kez was founded by Tshèqtê Unzabu, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Skra Nōm Kez has a yearly average temperature of 16°C (60°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a pleasant 25°C (77°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 8°C (46°F). Skra Nōm Kez receives an average of 163 cm/y (64 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Skra Nōm Kez covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 3032 m (9947 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Skra Nōm Kez was founded durring the late 14th century in summer of the year 1352, by Tshèqtê Unzabu. The establishment of Skra Nōm Kez suffered from many setbacks, delays, and obsticles, most notably a group of Skra Nōm Kez which required millitary assistance exterminate before the community could finish being built.

Skra Nōm Kez was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Skra Nōm Kez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Skra Nōm Kez is buildings are grouped arround an odd layout of spacious flagstone streets, which seems to be based on an overlapping squair patern such that there are small squares at the cornor of every bigger square. Sometimes buildings exist in the smaller squaires, other times they are open spaces, or occupied by temporary structures. The town posesses a fortified albit thin wall of querried stone. This wall posesses most of the features of a castle wall, though it is constructed from cheeper inferior stone. It would pose a minor chalange for an attacking army, though it's clear the wall's true purpose is to crush the hopes of bandits and marauders. The failry decent fortifications have not been wellmaintained over the years, and while functional are in dire need of some loving care and perhapse light renovation.

Right off the bat Skra Nōm Kez hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. The town is very clearly a joyfull place as well as wealthy. Music can be heard often, as well as laughter. The smell of food and drink permiates the air. You can’t help but smile.

Skra Nōm Kez has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Skra Nōm Kez has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Skra Nōm Kez is home to a University which provides higher education in a variety of fields, and also serves as a research institute for those same fields.

Cultural Notes

Skra Nōm Kez's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its striking sculptural forms and often dazzling ornamental detail that characterizes the buildings general shape. The radiant colors, rich patterns, and symmetrical silhouettes employed by this style were backed up by rich decorative features including gardens, courtyards, extruded arches, domes, pointed domes, vaulted ceilings, elaborate painted and inlaid designs, and decorative sculptures.

Skra Nōm Kez's residents established a new industry (28724 % 6)+1 years ago, and it’s making them a great deal of profit. Old patterns of authority and wealth are being disrupted, and the old gentry are unlikely to be pleased about it. They may be trying to take over the industry, or they may have been the ones to enable it in the first place and are using it to crush the life out of any rival power bases. Outsiders might be playing a major role as well, and it could be they plot to siphon off the profits.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Skra Nōm Kez was attacked by soldiers from another nation, with orders to raid Skra Nōm Kez. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Skra Nōm Kez lost 120 people, 197 livestock, and 27 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 110, when members of Skra Nōm Kez's militia enacted an operation to gain control of a particular strategic location. The operation was complicated by enemy spies who revealed the militia's plan. The conflict ended with a last stand against the enemy until a particular event occurred, which ended in defeat for Skra Nōm Kez's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Skra Nōm Kez's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
